From Perfectionism to Progress: Aaliya's Story of Breaking Free from Procrastination
Hey there, Iâm Aaliya, the pen with a story to tell. Iâve been with my human, V, since 2018, and trust me, itâs been quite the journey. Iâve seen her smile, cry, win, lose, fall in love, and sink into some deep pain. Her pathâs been full of confusion, heavy expectations, and, well, letâs just say, a lot of procrastination. But through it all, sheâs kept going. That takes courage â even if sheâd never admit it.
You see, Vâs methods arenât always the best (and yes, sometimes they suck), but her heart is in the right place. This blog? Itâs not about her past (at least, not all of it). Itâs about where sheâs at right now. But hey, a little context never hurt anyone, right?
Vâs Battle with Perfectionism: The Journey to Self-Acceptance

Letâs get one thing straight: V is human. Shocking, right? Youâre probably rolling your eyes, but itâs important. She forgets that a lot. In her world, her worth is tied up in accomplishments â money, looks, killer communication skills, friendships, or finding her "perfect" crew (think Luffyâs gang, for you anime fans).
Sheâs convinced that if she doesnât check all those boxes, sheâs just⌠not enough. She believes that if she doesnât have it all, people will leave her behind. And if youâre sitting there thinking, "Well, thatâs wrong," youâre absolutely right. But does she know that? Sure. Does she feel it, though? Not quite.
Knowing somethingâs wrong doesnât mean you can magically stop feeling it.
Meet the Monster of Procrastination
For too long, V has been stuck battling Profecta â the monster born from perfectionism and procrastination. Sheâs caught in an exhausting loop where her efforts never feel good enough, and thereâs always something more she thinks she should have done. This creates a void inside, filled with guilt and shame, which leads to procrastination â a victory for Profecta, her inner perfectionism.
Has she tried to escape this cycle? Absolutely. But she usually lasts 3-7 days before something breaks her rhythm. Overload or distraction stops her, and it takes her another 1-2 months to get back on track.
Love, Loss, and a Whole Lot of Mess
V, like anyone in their twenties, has loved with all she had. Her first love? Miss K. Yep, Miss. But Miss K didnât return those feelings. She wasnât interested in girls, in general. Even though V never fully accepted her feelings or confessed, they stayed friends. Miss K was her Safe Place â full of love, acceptance, care, and support But when their paths diverged, V convinced herself that she wasnât worthy of Miss Kâs time and never contacted her again. Also, those emotions connected to Miss K? Way too overwhelming for V to face.
Two years have passed, and V is still holding on. Too much? Welcome to the mess.
Did she try to move on? Of course! But she couldnât bring herself to delete Miss Kâs number. Sheâd still watch her stories online, and instead of deleting photos, she just hid them in a folder. Silly, right? But facing her feelings was too hard. So, she buried them under distractions.
Escaping into Fiction: A False Safe Place
When battling the Profecta monster became too much, V sought comfort in a form of escape â creating a fictional world where she felt safe and loved. It became her refuge, but soon it turned into an unhealthy coping mechanism. Instead of preparing for her exams during her gap year, she threw herself into fanfiction, reading it for 13-15 hours a day. Not exaggerating.

She isolated herself from the real world, cut off friends, and stopped replying to messages. Why? Because she felt she wasnât enough. Sheâd suffered two huge academic setbacks, and even after taking a gap year, she couldnât get back on track. The weight of her past failures made the present feel unbearable, so she sought refuge in a fictional world, even at the cost of her health, sleep, and academics.
The Turning Point: Letting Go of Miss K and Fiction
V cared deeply for Miss K and didnât want to hurt her. She didnât mind if her escape ruined her, as long as Miss K was safe. But one day, Vâs thoughts took a darker turn. She imagined hurting Miss K emotionally, just to make her feel the same pain V was feeling. It shocked her.
That was when V knew she had to change. She deleted Miss Kâs number, erased the photos, and cut all ties. She even stopped reading fanfiction â something she had tried and failed to do before.
A New Battle: Seeking Comfort in Unhealthy Escapes
Without her fictional escape, V felt lost. So, she turned to another unhealthy coping mechanism. Letâs just say it involved content that didnât make her feel any better. She started seeking comfort in role-playing communities, hoping to find real love and comfort. But it only messed with her mental health even more.
Journaling: A Ray of Hope for Healing
Despite all the struggles, thereâs been one thing that helps V find her way back: Journaling. When she sticks to it, things start to shift. Journaling helps her process the chaos inside her head. Itâs not a perfect solution â sheâs had bad days that stop her in her tracks â but itâs a start.

This is why V decided to start writing on Aaliyawrites. Because, letâs face it, Aaliya writes ;) .Through this blog, she hopes to create a space where healing becomes possible, even if the path isnât always straight.
Building a Community: Sharing Stories and Healing Together
Aaliyawrites isnât just Vâs story. Itâs for anyone whoâs ever felt lost, stuck, or overwhelmed. V wants this space to be a community where people can share their experiences, support each other, and offer advice. Healing doesnât happen alone, and through this blog, she hopes to help others feel a little less alone on their journey.
Have you ever battled perfectionism? Or found yourself stuck in an exhausting loop of procrastination? If so, V and I (Aaliya, the pen) would love to hear your story.
George Herbert once said, "Good words are worth much, and cost little."
Your words might be the lifeline someone needs.
So, Whatâs Next?
V is still figuring things out, but sheâs trying. Her journey isnât linear, and there are still battles with Profecta. But every small step she takes matters. And through Aaliyawrites, sheâs hoping to keep moving forward â and hopefully help others do the same.
Please, share your story, give advice, or drop a few words of encouragement. Letâs build a space where we can be open, vulnerable, and support one another on this journey of growth and healing.
Final Thoughts: A New Beginning
This post marks the beginning of something new, not just for V, but for all of us. Together, we can create a space where healing and growth are possible, one step at a time.
Signing off, Aaliya the pen (P.S. â Classic Profecta move: this draft was written four days ago!)

Pick A Pile: How Your Ancestors Suffered & How You Reclaim Your Power In This Lifetime
Pile 1
Your ancestors struggled with financial unpredictability. They experienced extreme highs and lowsârising from poverty to wealth, only to fall back into financial hardship. This instability often stemmed from unforeseen circumstances, such as illness or mental health struggles, which disrupted their financial and career trajectories. Their lives were marked by periods of abundance followed by devastating losses, creating a cycle of uncertainty and instability.
How to Reclaim Your Power:
To break this cycle, you must learn the power of moderation. Burnout is not a badge of honorâitâs a warning sign. Your ancestors pushed themselves to exhaustion, leading to mental breakdowns and even hospitalization. Avoid repeating this pattern by prioritizing balance in all aspects of life: work, rest, diet, and personal time.
Engaging in emotional transformation is also key. Deep inner workâsuch as therapy, shadow work, and journalingâwill help you integrate your light and dark aspects, preventing deep-seated mental health struggles from controlling your life.
Maintaining confidence and physical vitality is crucial as well. Develop a consistent exercise routine and practice daily affirmations to reinforce your resilience. By strengthening both your body and mind, you empower yourself to navigate lifeâs challenges without falling into the cycles of the past.
Pile 2
Your ancestral lineage was deeply affected by abuse and toxic relationshipsâparticularly within marriages and partnerships. These cycles of dysfunction often left your ancestors feeling trapped, powerless, and unsupported. Many failed to confront the deeper issues in their lives, choosing instead to endure suffering rather than make the necessary changes. Fear, lack of courage, and external pressuresâsuch as societal or religious judgmentâkept them stuck in unhealthy environments.
How to Reclaim Your Power:
To break free, you must plan your life with intention. Unlike your ancestors, who often felt stagnant, you are being called to moveâphysically and emotionally. This may involve relocating to a different city, state, or even country to create a fresh start. Expansion is key.
Most importantly, donât give up. Your ancestors surrendered too easily when faced with challenges, but you are meant to embody strength, tenacity, and resilience. Own your power. Seek environments that uplift you rather than judge you. Stop seeking validation from rigid institutions or individuals who will never fully accept you.
This lifetime is about embracing self-accountabilityânot relying on others for your success or healing. Release inherited self-doubt and harsh self-criticism. Believe in yourself. By doing so, you break the cycle of fear and limitation that plagued your lineage.
Pile 3
Your ancestors suffered from a lack of intellectual and personal freedom. Many were prevented from pursuing education, mastering skills, or gaining knowledge that could have transformed their lives. Opportunities were stripped from themâwhether through financial hardship, systemic oppression, or restrictive societal expectations.
Their struggles extended beyond intellectual repression; secrecy and unspoken family tensions were also deeply ingrained. Many painful experiencesâbetrayals, losses, unresolved conflictsâwere buried rather than addressed, creating a lineage marked by suppressed emotions and untapped potential.
How to Reclaim Your Power:
The key to breaking this cycle is balance. While discipline and responsibility are essential, you must also allow yourself freedom and joy. Loosen the grip of strict structure and perfectionism. Find playfulness in lifeâtravel, explore, and pursue interests that bring you genuine happiness.
Additionally, reexamine your belief systems. Some of your inherited beliefs may be restricting you rather than empowering you. This lifetime calls for unlearning outdated mental constructs and redefining what truly aligns with you.
Learn when to let go. Not every battle needs to be fought, and not every past experience needs to be carried forward. Earn your knowledge, but donât let your ego make you rigid in your thinking. Embrace both wisdom and flexibility. By integrating responsibility with spontaneity, you reclaim the intellectual and personal freedom your ancestors were denied.
Pile 4
Your ancestors were dreamersâdeeply artistic, spiritual, and idealistic. They had grand visions for their lives but often struggled with follow-through, leading to unfulfilled potential. Many of them lived with regret over what they never accomplished.
Their ability to express themselves and chase their dreams may have been restricted by social ostracization or strict authoritarian rule. They may have been outcasted, silenced, or controlled by harsh external forces, preventing them from fully realizing their potential.
How to Reclaim Your Power:
In this lifetime, patience and pacing will be your greatest allies. You have the potential to build a beautiful life, but you must trust divine timing instead of forcing rapid progress. Rushing will only create setbacksâsustainable success requires careful nurturing.
Prioritize mental and emotional well-being. Your ancestorsâ dreams were crushed, in part, because they lacked the support or emotional stability to pursue them. Engage in self-care, therapy, and mindfulness practices to maintain your inner peace and resilience.
Tap into your artistic and feminine energyâwhether through music, dance, yoga, nature, or creative expression. These outlets will help you manifest your dreams. Your power lies in softness, creativity, and intuition.
Avoid unnecessary conflicts. Your energy is best spent cultivating peace, rather than engaging in battles that drain you. Embrace serenity, flow, and self-expression. By doing so, you bring your ancestorsâ lost dreams into realityâtransforming their struggles into a legacy of fulfilled potential.

Why are you afraid of shifting and how is it stopping you from success
This post is all about finding what are your struggles with shifting and fear and how to overcome it
Why This Happens
1. Fear of the Unknown: Shifting involves stepping into a completely new reality, and the mind can find that overwhelming. Even though you consciously want to shift, your mind might be resisting because itâs unsure what will happen or how you'll feel after the shift. (Your mind can't stop you from shifting but it helpful to overcome this)
2. Fear of Failure: While youâve maybe built a mindset that "shifting is easy," there might still be a lingering fear of what happens if it doesnât work. This can lead to procrastination as a way to avoid facing potential disappointment.
3. Attachment to Your Current Reality: Even if you consciously want to let go of this reality, your mind might still hold on to certain attachments, routines, or responsibilities, making it harder to fully release and surrender.
4. Perfectionism: You might feel that the conditions for shifting need to be "perfect" (e.g., the right time, mood, or setting). This can cause you to delay the attempt, thinking, "Iâll do it tomorrow when I feel more ready."
5. Energy Imbalance: Mental and emotional energy play a big role in shifting. If you're mentally drained from school/job or other activities, it can be harder to find the focus and motivation to try.
Advice to Overcome This
1. Address the Fear Directly:
Take a moment to reflect on why you might feel scared. Is it fear of failure, success, or the unknown? Journaling about these feelings can help bring clarity and reduce their intensity.
Remind yourself that shifting is safe and that youâre always in control. You can come back to your current reality whenever you choose.
2. Break the Cycle of Procrastination:
Commit to small steps instead of aiming for the perfect shifting session. For example, one night, just focus on relaxing and visualizing your desired reality for 5-10 minutes without the pressure of fully shifting.
Set a consistent time for your shifting practice, even if itâs only 15 minutes a day.
3. Ease Into Letting Go:
Practice mindfulness or meditation to train your mind to release attachment to this reality. Grounding yourself in the present moment can make it easier to let go when the time comes.
Try visualization exercises throughout the day. Imagine yourself briefly in your desired reality during small breaks, which can make the idea of shifting feel more familiar and less daunting.
4. Shift Your Perspective on "Failure":
Remember, every attempt is progress. Each time builds your connection to your desired reality and strengthens your mental state.
Celebrate small wins, like getting into a relaxed state or feeling closer to your desired reality, instead of only focusing on whether you shifted.
5. Create a Comforting Routine:
Build a ritual around your shifting attempts that feels calming and enjoyable. For example, use soothing music, light candles, or repeat affirmations that help you feel safe and confident.
Use self-reassurance phrases like, âI am in control, and shifting will happen at the right time for me.â
6. Reframe "Itâs Too Late" Thoughts:
Remind yourself that thereâs no "right" time to shift. You can attempt shifting whenever you feel ready, whether itâs day or night.
Think of shifting as a natural, ongoing process rather than a single, all-or-nothing event. This can help reduce pressure and make it feel more approachable.
Letting Go of the Pressure
It's helpful to approach shifting with curiosity and excitement rather than pressure. The more you view it as a natural and fluid process, the easier it can become to allow yourself to fully engage. Instead of thinking, "I have to shift tonight," try shifting your mindset to, "Iâm exploring this tonight, and whatever happens is okay."
Mantra to Try
When you feel scared or hesitant, try repeating: "I trust the process. I am safe, I am ready, and I am capable of shifting when the time is right."
A little remember that it most important to find what works for you.

â She gives book reports like sheâs defending a thesis.
â Her handwriting is meticulous, just like Ellieâs.
â She wins her schoolâs spelling bee and dedicates the win âto my mommies.â
â Aurora doesnât handle change wellâmoving a couch makes her cry.
â Youâre the only one who can help her calm down when she spirals.
â She leaves sticky notes with âI love youâ on your bathroom mirror.
â Ellie keeps a stash of emergency snacks and plushies for when Aurora gets overstimulated.
â Aurora talks to you about everythingâeven stuff she hides from Ellie.
â She always wants to know where you areâcalls you if youâre late home.
â If you travel, she leaves voice memos asking when youâre coming back.
â Aurora once stayed up crying because she thought you wouldnât love her if she failed at something. You reassure her constantly, even years later.
â Ellie hugs you tighter at night after watching how much both of you mean to each other.
â Aurora and Ellie gang up on you in debatesâbut itâs always playful.
â They both get quiet when they think youâre upsetâlike they canât stand disappointing you.
â Aurora wears a matching lab coat on Ellieâs âbring your kid to workâ day.
â She calls the three of you âthe brain squad.â
â Your fridge is full of Auroraâs detailed school projectsâEllie annotates them like a proud academic.
â Aurora copies how Ellie kisses your temple when youâre working.
â They both wait up for you if youâre lateâeven if itâs past bedtime.
â When Aurora gets awards, youâre the first person she looks for in the crowd.
â Family movie night has to be educational and cozy or she gets annoyed.
â You are the center of their universeâboth of them would burn the world for you without hesitation.

How to stop being a doormat.-
-> . . . ⢠ËËË [By a healed people pleaser] ŕżŕž
Being nice to others is not a bad trait, but becoming THE NICE GIRL is.
Excessive people pleasing brings you nowhere and makes you vulnerable to becoming a doormat, disrespect, and sacrificing yourself.
People pleasing isnât just about being nice to everyone all the time; it actually messes with your head and how you think about yourself deep down.Â
We can look at people pleasing from an conscious and subconscious side.
Conscious People pleasing
This is what we typically associate with people pleasing:
You can't say no: Every request feels like an obligation.
You prioritize others over yourself: Your needs take a backseat.
You apologize for everything: Even when itâs unnecessary.
You avoid conflicts: Peace at any cost, right?
You make yourself small: Shrinking your presence to fit in.
Subconscious people pleasing
This is the impact people pleasing has on your mindset and behaviours
While breaking people pleasing one should focus here more
Servant mindset -> catering to others drains your energy.
Emulating others -> Â You lose sight of who you truly are.
Seeking validation: "I need to be ... to get validation 'love' from others
Ignoring your feelings: Suppressing your emotions to keep the peace.
Feeling judged: Worrying about what others think of you.
Anxiousness about acceptance: "Do they really like me?"
The Why of People pleasing
The first step in breaking free is understanding why you engage in people pleasing.
Here are some common reasons:
You might be people pleasing because of...
Anxiety: fear of disappointing others or rejection
Low self esteem: "pleasing others is the only way to get acceptance and love"
Past trauma: can link others' needs to safety and affection
Cultural or family expectations: Pressure from those around you.
Perfectionism: Â The need to be flawless in the eyes of others.
Insecurity: Doubting your own worthiness.
Avoidance of Conflict: Preferring peace over confrontation.
To get the exact cause you should also utilise journaling.
Use 15 min. for three or more of these journaling prompts each
Does People pleasing really help me? How do I feel when I please people? Happy or drained?
Do I get something back by pleasing people. Is it one sided?
What is my earliest memory of people pleasing? Why did I decide to please people at that time?
How do I perceive the people that I please in reality? Do I even like them.
What is the thing I really want in this situation that I might feel too scared, vulnerable, or ashamed to ask for?
What is one thing that I'm scared people will think of me, and how is this actually true and useful for me?
What do I want to change about my people pleasing habit
This reflection makes it clear why we do it and what caused people pleasing to be ingrained in us in the first place.
Recovering from People pleasing
Start small.-
Begin by setting boundaries in low stakes situations
declining invitations to events etc.
declining requests that you don't have time or desire to do
Gradually work yourself up to more significant situations practicing assertiveness along the way.
Learn to tolerate discomfort
Recognise that asserting yourself and setting boundaries may initially feel uncomfortable or cause anxiety
Embrace the discomfort as a sign of growth and remind yourself that it's necessary to prioritize your own well being.
Strengthen your sense of self
When we are people pleasing we are placing our self worth on another person
With journaling, self care, setting personal goals and new hobbies, you can construct and identity independent of others opinions.
The Intention Interrogation
Ask yourself a specific question before agreeing to a request:
"Am I doing this because I genuinely want to, or because I'm afraid of potential consequences?"Â
This can delay automatic people pleasing reflexes
Cut toxic people off
If someone is using you for their gain, itâs time to create distance.
Limit your availability and emotional investment
Create space between yourself and toxic relationships
And Trust your instincts
The 24-Hour Rule
Make it a commitment to not immediately respond to requests.
Give yourself a full day and then decide if you actually want to do this.
Get therapy
If people pleasing has a deep impact socially or otherwise on you consider therapy
It's really helpful against people pleasing if nothing else helps
That's it lovelies
People pleasing is a destructive social mechanism of ours that we developed in young years.
Unfolding these behaviours and taking a stance against pleasing others frees ourself for positive change and levelling ourselves up
#People pleasing is giving you the opposite of the goal that you actually want#You are just destroying your self image#And but it for other people to judge#It only makes you unhappy#ya#I'm so happy that Im out of people pleasing#This era is finished for good#mainfesting the recovering of all people pleasers#girlblogging#wonyoungism#girl blogger#becoming her#becoming that girl#pink academia#dream girl#self improvement#pink pilates princess#it girl#people pleaser#self love#self help#self care#personal#personal growth#mental health#glow up#glow up era#loa

To Writers
So, we need to have a discussion about a few things. I'm not here saying that I am the end all be all on writing advice. Far, far from it. But, I've been seeing some discussions through various sights that are bothering me, so I kind of wanted to say something to writers out there (especially younger ones) in case you have not heard it said before.
Read your classics. There is a theme of condemning them for racist language. Non inclusivity. Sexism. And the list goes on. But.... READ THEM. I don't care if they are classics such as Slaughterhouse Five, Huck Finn, Catch - 22, Lolita, Grapes of Wrath, or if they are just books that are a bit outdated in what they have to say. READ THEM. Just because something has an abhorrent theme to it, does not mean that there is not something to learn from that. This is how we gain critical thinking. By reading different perspectives. And yes, sometimes those perspectives are bad. Or, sometimes those perspectives are ones that are actually condemning the act itself, but because it is not spelled out as such, society tends to think it is uplifting such a topic. Look at what you are reading and form different opinions, thoughts and feelings about things so you can be a far more rounded writer (and person). Look at things from the opposite side. Inhabit those mindsets for a bit and try to find the roots of such thinking. Because the world is morally grey at best, and so are your characters if you want them to be believable.
If you are writing about a different world, a different race, especially one you have made up, they are most likely not going to follow the very human conventions that we have applied to our own life. And that's fine. It will upset some people, and it will take others a bit to understand. However, societies that are not based on our own, would not believably act like our own. If you wish to make a society like that, think a little outside the box and be prepared for people to be upset by this. But, again, critical thinking should be applied. At the end of the day, stories are meant to be vehicles to 'what if's'. They are not real. They are an escape. Not everyones escape looks the same.
Writing is hard, yes, but it does not have to be something we suffer through. There is a constant borage of meme's and journal entries and complaints that circulate bemoaning not being about to write. Sometimes, yeah, that's going to happen. That's okay. Walk away. You do not have to give into the despair that has oddly clouded this community. Can't write? Go read. Spend time with a friend. Watch a show. Get your chore list done so you are all set when you can write. You do not need to write every day, nor do you need to force yourself to write if you are not someone who works well with that. Learn what your own behaviors are and address those first. And if you do not fall into the category that everyone else does, you are not less of a writer.
Stop writing for everyone else. Write for your characters. I know the rhetoric has always been know your audience. Or write for you. But, unless you are in a publishing house, with an agent, and have to meet a requirement? Who cares. Create some characters, figure out who they are, and let them loose. It is far less confining, and you can create some characters that are much more dimensional than if you are set to the definitions that you or others have put on your creations.
Don't be a perfectionist. Perfectionism comes through lots of editing. That is not important until miles down the road. Get the idea out. Let it blossom. And then let it seep for a bit. Don't get hung up on something not making sense.
I really hope this helps. The community that I see forming of writers is full of indecision and doubt. Know that you are doing that to yourself. Free yourself of that burden and just see where the journey takes you.

Hi!! okay so this may be kind of a weird ask and im not very good at english-ing despite it being the literal only language i speak so bare with me here.
ive been obsessing over your inhuman!polyvessel headcanons and i was kind of wondering, how do you think the vessels would deal with a partner with ocd? like actual ocd, not the whole perfectionism shabang and more like someone who struggles with paranoia or intrusive thoughts. (especially considering thier whole telepathy thing)
i know this is kind of a heavier topic, so if your not comfortable writing something like this i'd totally understand.
sooooo full disclosure here: I also have OCD! Diagnosed, meds, therapy, the works. It sucks. I hate it. But all this is to say this ask isn't too heavy at all, and I'm more than happy to give my insight on it. I'm gonna try to make this as vague as possible with regards to the compulsions/intrusive thoughts, just because there are so many different kinds of OCD that I don't want to pin it to just one subtype.
I like to think all of the vessels would be very gentle with you on this. They'll notice some things here and there, like repetitive behaviors, constantly checking on things, etc. But when it really hits them is when Vessel starts to explain to you about the mental connection they all share (and the fact that they can peek into your mind) and those intrusive thoughts come screaming in like a freight train. He doesn't have to look into your mind to see how distressed you are about the idea, and he makes quick work of reassuring you that it's not something they're constantly tuned-in to. Sure, they can usually sense vague feelings, but they can only hear your specific thoughts if they intentionally try to. But the damage is done, and Vessel (plus the others after a while) spends the better part of an hour struggling to help you calm down. Once they help you through that particular episode, they'll probably sort of sit down with you and try to ask you, essentially, "what the fuck was that".
Almost immediately after you explain what's going on and what OCD is, II's off to the library to see what he can dig up about it. Particularly what sorts of things helps with it, what kinds of things make it worse, and maybe what he can do to help. Sleep is already manifesting a few journals and studies for him while he's on his way. The others stick around to talk to more about it, as they want to get an idea about your specific experiences with it. I think quick deal is also made here: none of them will ever tiptoe into your thoughts unless they ask you first. It may not help the paranoia as much as they'd like, since they can still sense feelings, but it's the most they can offer: a genuine promise to respect those boundaries.
To say it'll take some getting used to and some trial-and-error is a bit of an understatement. They have the absolute best intentions, but we all know that doesn't mean things won't go sideways sometimes. They may interrupt your compulsions at first, thinking they're helping you to stop doing them but as a result they just make you more frantic and upset. Or they might endlessly reassure you any time you ask, completely unaware that they're essentially playing into your compulsions and making them worse.
Over time, however, a smoother routine develops as they all become more aware of your OCD and the ins and outs of it. Any sort of help they can offer, they'll gladly do so. They want to know how they can best come to your aid the next time the urge to do those behaviors presents itself. They'll stay by your side, and help you no matter what, all you need to do is talk to them and tell them what you need.
Sometimes what you need is help slowing down the compulsions or help doing them less. I think II is best here, as he can be more firm and would be a better guiding hand to hold you accountable. Did you decide beforehand to only do your compulsion [x] amount of times? He'll keep count, then gently work with you to steer you away when you hit that limit.
Sometimes what you need is to be left alone to do them, then offered comfort and care afterwards. I think this is more IV's place, where he can simply stand by, keep an eye on you to make sure you don't cross the line into being dangerous to yourself, then making sure you're taken care of when you start to come down.
Sometimes what you need is a soft, quiet presence while you resist doing the compulsions at all, just sitting with your anxiety and waiting for it to dissipate naturally without the help of those behaviors. Vessel is good at this; he won't say a word unless you indicate you want conversation. He's more than happy to simply sit nearby or hold you through your fear, making sure you're not doing this alone.
I think III can be a bit of a wild card, and can flip between being good at helping you slow down your compulsions and sticking close by when you resist doing them completely. I think he'd struggle sitting idly by and letting you run the course of them, just because he'd want to pull you away or interrupt you in some manner.
Overall, I think they also try to keep things as normal as possible without making you feel abandoned or alone. They don't want to center everything around your OCD and constantly remind you of it, but they don't want you to think they don't care about your struggles with it either. Above all, they want you to feel safe with them. They want you to feel secure, and they want you to know they've got you.

đ¸ Commonplace Notebook
A commonplace a notebook, is a notebook where you can document everything. It is a singular notebook that acts a companion.
You can take it anywhere and write anything in it. There are no limitations and it is not meant to be perfect.
A commonplace notebook is an extemporaneous dialogue between you and the notebook.
Oftentimes, we designate specific notebooks to specific categories. For example, we may have a bullet journal for planning, a diary for reflections, a small notepad for ideas, and so forth.Â
A commonplace notebook aims to combine all categories while releasing perfectionism. It is meant to be a notebook that encapsulates your life at that moment in time, what you were doing, what you were planning, what you were thinking or feeling.

Living a Slow and Purposeful Life in a Busy World đđâđŤđâ¨
In a culture that celebrates busyness and productivity, itâs easy to feel like youâre always running out of time. Social media can make this worse by constantly showing us othersâ achievements, travels, and seemingly perfect lives. But life doesnât have to feel like a race. Choosing to slow down and live more intentionally can lead to greater fulfillment, deeper relationships, and a clearer sense of purpose.
(I wrote a similar post for Christianâs if youâre interest that as well)
Hereâs how you can embrace a slower, more meaningful life:
1. Start Each Day with Intention
Instead of jumping into the day with your phone or to-do list, take a few minutes to reflect on what truly matters. Journaling, meditating, or simply sitting quietly can help you set the tone for the day.
Tip: Write down three things youâre grateful for each morning. Gratitude can shift your focus from what you need to do to what you already have.
2. Put People First
Rushing through life often means we miss out on meaningful connections. Prioritize quality time with friends and family, and be fully present when youâre with them. Listening, sharing, and laughing together can bring more joy than any achievement.
Tip: Schedule time for loved ones the way you would for important meetings or tasks.
3. Simplify Your Commitments
Overcommitting is a major source of stress and overwhelm. Take a closer look at your schedule and identify what truly adds value to your life. Itâs okay to say no to things that donât align with your priorities.
Tip: Ask yourself, Does this activity energize me or drain me? Let that guide your decisions.
4. Be Mindful of Social Media
Social media can make us feel like weâre not doing enough, as we compare ourselves to the highlight reels of others. Limiting your time online can free up mental space and help you focus on your own path.
Tip: Turn off notifications and set time limits for apps that cause stress or comparison. Consider unfollowing accounts that make you feel inadequate.
5. Embrace Rest and Leisure
Rest is essential, not a luxury. Taking breaks to relax, daydream, or engage in hobbies helps you recharge and approach life with more creativity and patience.
Tip: Plan downtime into your week, whether itâs reading a book, taking a walk, or simply doing nothing.
6. Practice Living in the Moment
Itâs easy to get caught up in planning for the future or dwelling on the past. Slowing down means focusing on the present, whether youâre sharing a meal, working on a project, or simply breathing deeply.
Tip: Try mindfulness exercises like paying attention to your senses or taking a few deep breaths to anchor yourself in the here and now.
7. Redefine Success
Success doesnât have to mean being the busiest or most accomplished. Consider what truly makes you happy and fulfilled. For many, success is about meaningful relationships, personal growth, and enjoying lifeânot checking off endless tasks.
Tip: Define your own version of success. What brings you joy and purpose? Focus on that instead of chasing societyâs expectations.
8. Let Go of Perfectionism
Striving for perfection can leave you feeling burned out and anxious. Instead, embrace progress over perfection. Mistakes and imperfections are a natural part of life and often lead to growth.
Tip: Give yourself permission to do things âgood enoughâ rather than aiming for an unattainable ideal.
9. Celebrate Small Wins
Slowing down doesnât mean giving up on your goalsâit means appreciating the journey. Take time to acknowledge your progress and celebrate small accomplishments along the way.
Tip: Keep a journal of your wins, no matter how small, to remind yourself of how far youâve come.
Final Thought
Living a slower, more purposeful life is about finding balance and focusing on what truly matters. Itâs not about doing less but about doing what adds value to your life and makes you feel connected to yourself and others. By stepping back from the rush, you can create space to breathe, grow, and enjoy the beauty of the present moment.
âLife isnât about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away.â
With love,
Thatgentlewife

curtis and co:Â
Out of all of her siblings she's definitely closest to her eldest brother curtis, they have shared a special bond ever since he held her for the first time. Heâs always had this strong sense of protectiveness over her as he's the oldest and she's the youngest. He always did his best to go to every single one of her soccer matches or her ballet recitals and he was always the one to stay up late listening to all her fashion ideas and to give her his opinion on her fashion designs. He takes pride in being her biggest fan. He hates how she lives alone in Manhattan, so he's always trying to convince her to move in with them. He will always see her as his baby sister, no matter how old she is. They are very playful and teasing towards each other, curtis loves to mess with her, messing up her hair and calling her spoiled.
Reanne and ophelia have an amazing relationship, normally ophelia was usually hesitant to become close with her siblings partners, but with Reanne it happened so naturally she couldn't really stop it. Reanne is like a proper older sister to ophelia, she's very motherly towards her as well, always making her favorite meals when she comes to visit them and pampering her. Ophelia is very grateful to have such a sweet and caring sister in law. They often have their own girl nights, curled up on the couch with some sweets and wine as they watch rom-coms all night. She is one of the very few people ophelia trusts talking about her romantic life. Â
Owen and Cayden lazar, aka ophelia's little angels, also known as her nephews. Ophelia loves them so much, she promised that she would be the best aunt ever when Curtis and Reanne told her! She was full on ugly crying when she held them both for the first time. She tries to spend as much time as she can with them, she loves babysitting them!! She has some of their toys and clothes at her place so they have things whenever they come over. She spoils them so much, always getting them new things, she absolutely loves dressing them up. ęŞŕ§ BACKGROUND !Â
Ophelia was born on a bright and sunny day that matched perfectly with her energetic personality. She became the youngest of the lazar clan, aka their baby.Â
Ophelia was a very energetic and sweet child, she was like a busy bee, and was given the nickname âthe wild childâ by her family.Â
Ophelia started ballet when she was four, her parents and teachers were quick to notice how talented she was at it despite her age.Â
She played soccer from age 8 to 11, and she loved the sport, but after she got an injury to her ankle she had to stop playing because she loved ballet more, and she couldn't risk not being able to dance again.Â
When she started soccer, she met her best friend amber jameson who was on her team, they became inseparable since then.Â
Amber goes to NYU, majoring in computer science.Â
She was 12 when she realized that she loved fashion design when she was helping her middle school play with costumes. Curtis noticed her new passion and bought her some supplies for her upcoming birthday.Â
Her modeling career started as just her getting pictures taken for her ballet portfolio, and the photographer brought up her modeling for other things professionally. And it just kicked off from there.Â
Over the years her modeling career just got better, ophelia modeling for high end brands, she was becoming very sought after. She even walked the catwalk for fashion week when she was 17, 19 and 20 and many other fashion shows throughout the years.Â

ophelia got in her first relationship when she was 18, his name is Ryan James and he is a fellow model, they met at londonâs fashion week. He is almost two years older than her.Â
they started dating in may 2020 and dated until april 2022, they broke up at her birthday party when Ophelia looked at his phone and saw that he had been cheating on her for months, using her for clout and money.Â
ophelia was absolutely heartbroken, she had to put on a brave front infront of her family and friends for the rest of her birthday, making up some excuse on why Ryan had to leave.Â
the last 6 months of their relationship wasn't the best, he was bossy, controlling, insensitive, but she was blinded by the idea of being in love with him and being loved back.Â

i always see people around me being more productive and starting revision earlier and doing everything much faster. iâm already trying my best, but i start panicking when i see them be better, and feel like iâm lagging behind. how do i snap out of this mentality?
How to Stop Panicking About Productivity:
Weâve all been there. Youâre grinding away at your own pace, and then you glance around and see everyone else seemingly miles ahead. Theyâre breezing through tasks, acing their exams, and looking like theyâve got it all figured out. Meanwhile, youâre fighting off panic, convinced youâre falling behind. But before you spiral further, take a breath. Youâre not alone, and thereâs a way to snap out of this productivity panic.
1. Realize Youâre Not in a Race
First off, letâs get one thing straight: life isnât a race. Sure, it feels like everyone around you is speeding ahead, but that doesnât mean youâre losing. Your journey is your own, and comparing your progress to others is like comparing apples to oranges. Different people have different strengths, learning styles, and paces. What works for someone else might not work for you, and thatâs okay.
2. Practice Mindful Self-Compassion
When you catch yourself spiraling, pause and check in with yourself. Are you being too harsh on your own progress? Give yourself some credit. Youâre doing your best, and thatâs enough. Start practicing self-compassion by treating yourself like you would a friend whoâs struggling. Would you tell them theyâre a failure, or would you encourage them to keep going? Be your own cheerleader.
3. Focus on Your Progress, Not Theirs
Itâs easy to get caught up in what everyone else is doing, but the only progress that really matters is your own. Take a moment to reflect on how far youâve come instead of how far you think you have to go. Even small steps forward are still progress. Keep a journal or a list of what youâve accomplished each day, no matter how minor it seems. This will help you stay grounded and motivated.
4. Set Realistic Goals and Celebrate Wins
Instead of trying to match someone elseâs pace, set goals that are achievable for you. Break your tasks into manageable chunks, and celebrate each win, no matter how small. Finished a chapter? Thatâs a win. Wrote 200 words? Thatâs a win. You donât need to conquer the world in a dayâjust keep moving forward at your pace.
5. Take Breaks and Recharge
Burnout is real, and it can sneak up on you if youâre constantly pushing yourself to keep up with others. Schedule regular breaks to recharge. Go for a walk, watch an episode of your favorite show, or just chill out for a bit. Remember, productivity isnât about working nonstop; itâs about finding a sustainable rhythm.
6. Limit Social Media Consumption
Letâs be honestâsocial media can be a huge source of comparison and stress. Everyoneâs posting their highlights, but youâre not seeing the full picture. Consider cutting back on your social media usage, especially when youâre feeling vulnerable. Out of sight, out of mind. Focus on your journey instead of getting sucked into someone elseâs highlight reel.
7. Find a Support System
Surround yourself with people who uplift you. Whether itâs friends, family, or a study group, find a support system that encourages you rather than makes you feel inadequate. Share your struggles and victories with them; chances are, theyâre feeling the same way too. A strong support system can make all the difference in keeping your mindset positive.
8. Accept That Perfection Isnât the Goal
Perfectionism is a trap. Striving for perfection will only lead to more stress and dissatisfaction. Instead, aim for progress and improvement. Mistakes are part of the learning process, and they donât define your worth. Embrace the idea that doing your best is more than enough.
9. Remember, Youâre Doing Great
At the end of the day, itâs important to remind yourself that youâre doing just fine. The fact that youâre even worried about falling behind shows that you care about your progress. Donât let the comparison game steal your joy and motivation. Keep your eyes on your own path, trust in your process, and give yourself the credit you deserve.
So next time you feel that productivity panic creeping in, take a step back, breathe, and remind yourself that youâre on your own unique journey. Youâve got this.
Best,
Sophia

Hello ! for the ask game, đ§, any DR youâd like :)
omgg an old ask game !! i actually really liked this question so iâm glad you asked me anon thank you sm !! đŤśđ˝đŤśđ˝
iâll be answering for my better cr â
đ§ : WAFFLE . . . create a mood board of your hobbies in your desired reality. do you draw, paint, bake, cook, sculpt, game, etc?

in my BETTER CR â i find the muddled musing of my mind to be something that follows me throughout the multiverse, iâm never not thinking and iâm never not ruminating and that takes a toll on my being â physical , mental , emotional , spiritual , all of it â the act of writing down my thoughts really helps me. i donât journal in the traditional sense, itâs very much a stream of consciousness where i speak through the inky ribbon black loops made with my pen as it glides along the pages, i communicate with my journal as if itâs my spiritual guide, an entity of sorts that was sent here in the form of a notebook, for me to purge all that pains me or reminisce on all that brings me joy, every little thing i encounter or face or fear or fall in love with, my journal will know.
and when i cannot find my own words? i go into a world where the words are found for me â i read books . or, better put, i devour books, i consume every last morsel i can sink my mind into, i submerge myself between the sentences, i race to get to the next paragraph only to reverse and go back to reread the previous paragraph another time to really appreciate the craft behind the writing and the thought behind the diction, there is so much that goes into a story to really make it a whole world between two covers. even if itâs non-fiction, itâs the love of knowledge, arbitrary as it may be, and inapplicable to an educational perspective for sure, but thatâs only what makes me want to read it more. for my own knowledge, for my own interests, for me
in actuality, the childhood habit of staying up late and reading novels under the covers with a flashlight (yes, an actual flashlight not a phone, this was before i even had a phone), iâd have to assume that itâs also the reason why i write. not just journaling but writing, writing stories, writing fiction â i am meant to be a writer . in every reality that is who i am, i will never stop scripting this skill no matter how pointless or random it may seem to the world i choose to shift to, it is me â i have an entire multiverse in my mind, i have ideas that i cannot even put into words because the sheer capacity of explaining such an idea is unable to be done in a single day, iâd need numerous days, weeks, months, to break down the details of my stories. but that doesnât stop me from writing, bcs if i donât, who will? i have a story to share and iâm gonna share it
now on the flip side, thereâs a problem with being someone who cannot bear to perceive my own actions if they are anything less than perfect â i canât scrapbook. for the life of me i cannot do it. but i try and i suppose thatâs why most of my âscrapbooksâ are just other journals with loose bits of paper or stickers or cut out doodles just slid between pages, bcs i cannot decide where to attach them for fear of permanency. but i try .. so, we shall see how it goes
now one aspect where i have mastery in ignoring the debilitation of perfectionism, is art. never something i take too seriously (anymore .. we do not want to think abt the ripped pages and scribbles sketches after i rage quit for lack of a better phrase) but once i started to sketch and draw and doodle and colour for myself , rather than as a representation of my skills, that was ironically when my drawing skills actually flourished. funny, isnât it? the way something will only evolve and grow stronger the less you think about it, the less you question its lack of strength? sort of like your manifestations anyway
this may come off as a brag and it totally is but i have a bit of a musical ear , the ability to mimic sound and song and melody to its minute details is something that i really enjoy being capable of, especially when itâs on the guitar â my calloused fingers and the slight squeak of the metal against my skin when i slide along the string â i adore that instrument, almost as much as i adore my natural instrument, the one i was born with, my voice. even after years of being told that iâm too loud, i speak as if i have a built in mic, or i have a megaphone for a voice box . trust me iâve heard it all, but funnily enough iâve never been told off for my volume when i sing, instead iâm actually encouraged to keep singing
to finish off, i have to say that there are a few other hobbies i didnât have space for/didnât find good images for/donât do often enough but still enjoy â watching shows/movies, listening to music, taking walks, taking photos

hey! i appreciate you offering me some advice!
iâm workin on my first ever fic (and creative writing for that matter lmao) and i keep running into the same issue
iâm really struggling to come up with plot/story. if i have like key moments or anything i have no issue writing it. i have a few pivotal moments that i want to happen but filling in the moments between them is super hard for me. is there any way to get over this?
Most people have a few key scenes they want to see when they think of writing a story, and it's normal not to know how to link them together. My longfic was my first try at creative fiction. Here's some of the thought process behind how I took my fic from an idea to a story arc!
Planning a story arc is about developing the journey. How did your main character get from Point A to B?
There's so much that goes into this answer, so here's a table of contents for this post:
Writer mental health: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Process
Planning Documents
Question Everything
Study [Part 1] Themes & Motivation
Study [Part 2] The Source Material & Your Inspirations
Study [Part 3] Storycraft
Sidequest: Questions, themes, motivation & storycraft for a story about nothing
đ§ Writer mental health: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Process: I've written a post or two about perfectionism and writer mental health. Stories are sort of like plants; writers are like gardeners. No plant or story is fully formed from the jump. If your idea is a plant, then it grows from a seed. If a writer is a gardener, then they're tending a plant that grows over time. Allow yourself to make changes. Be willing to draft the story, edit, then sleep on it for a day or two and edit again before you post it online. You can always press the edit button after publication. I'm starting with this because the sooner you develop a growth mindset, the more likely you will avoid common writer mental health pratfalls. Treat writing like an oil painting in a museum: it began from a sketch and wasn't done all in one go. This point might not feel relevant until you have a bad day as a writer.
đPlanning documents: Take notes on anything and everything. Most writing software will have an outline/table of contents feature to help you organize. One document could be character notes, another might be a timeline of events. One could be scene ideas. Don't feel pressured to explain yourself too much. Treat these documents as scrap paper where you can write down quick ideas and move on; use a bullet point format. As my fic grew, my documents and the contents changed. Mine are now quite messy, and I don't feel the need to use them every chapter. I've outgrown them to a degree, but I still have them for my own reference.
I encourage you to avoid deleting large sections, even if you retcon an idea. Instead, move them to a cutting room floor document. You never know what you're going to need, and though it's in your head right now, you never know what you might forget.
âQuestion Everything: While you know who your characters and what some big pivotal scenes are, you need to ask Who, What, When, Where, Why & How about these people and events. If you're from an analytical background such as law or journalism, you were trained to think this way when you learned issue spotting.
Asking these questions about the pivotal scenes and characters will spawn further questions you need to answer, which will then help you figure out what to write in-between the big scenes. If your pivotal scene is a fight between the Hero and a Big Bad, or the Love Interest proposing to the main character, you should ask questions about how the characters got there. What is the conflict between the Hero and the Big Bad? How did the MC and Love Interest meet? What challenges did they have along the way?
The genesis of my fic began with these questions. I thought:
"[What] would I do to fix the canon Fallout 4 [Who] RJ MacCready story?" I was then granted a vision of RJ hiking in the snowy mountains of [Where] Banff National Park. The [Why] was "Med-Tek didn't work out". That partly answered the [When] (North America in the post-apocalypse, over two hundred years since the bombs dropped; at the end of RJ's canon story). [How] did they figure out he needs to go to Banff?
After this idea took hold of my brain, I kept asking questions. As I answered them, I kept notes.
[What] happened at Med-Tek? [How] does RJ get from Boston to Banff? If this fic begins at the end of his canon story, [Who] is the Sole Survivor who helped him through it? [Where] are the key locations in Banff RJ should go and [Why]?
Some questions are more pertinent to explain than others. For example, travel was a big question I had to solve given my story is set in a post-apocalyptic version of our world. Distance travel- unless you're a caravan or the Brotherhood of Steel- is a luxury for your average Wastelander. So I looked up the closest real world equivalent to a vertibird (a tiltrotor aircraft such as the Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey), spent time researching forums and roughly figured out how much fuel and how many stops a vertibird would need between Boston and Banff.
Another writer in the Fallout fandom might not find that pertinent or put in the same research. I value being able to point at something and say, "Oh, I figured that out" to help me better inform my writing.
đStudy [Part 1] Themes & Motivation: Ok, so you're thinking about how the Hero got involved with the Big Bad and the conflict between them; you started with the proposal and marriage between your MC and Love Interest and are now thinking of how they met and how their families react to their partnership.
What are your character's goals and objectives?
What is their background? What makes them think or feel a certain way? Keep in mind that people are complex. A traumatized person isn't always "acting" traumatized to the other characters or the audience.
What are some activities you've observed in real life relationships?
What do your characters like to do when they aren't working?
Who are your characters outside of the events of the story? Who are they before the story? Who are they after? If the story events didn't happen, who would they be instead?
What does one character observe in a room that another will not notice? If one character turns their nose up at a concept or idea, why or why not?
How does your character react under pressure?
What classic literary tropes apply to your character/story? Can you mix and match, or subvert a classic trope?
A love story is rarely ever just a love story. A superhero movie is rarely ever just about superpowers and fighting. What themes, concepts or ideas do you want to explore? Do you have any intellectual curiosities or side hobbies you want to bring to your writing? I really love studying philosophy and enjoy hiking. I am a big fan of works that examine the relationships humans have with nature and each other, as well as the nature of power. These are two things that make my fanfiction different: my characters react to their environments. They observe differences between Banff/Boston and remark upon what happened to Earth when the bombs fell. One of the best compliments I ever had on my fic was from a reader from Alaska who saw their childhood home reflected in Banff's boreal forest; who almost felt as though they could smell the environment by reading the story. My wife @edaworks is a multihyphenate and autodidact- statistician, sociologist, attorney, hobby archaeologist and cosplayer among many other things. In her fic, she brings completely different ideas to Fallout than I do.
đStudy [Part 2] The Source Material & Your Inspirations:
If you struggle to think of ideas relating to the central conflict, you can always return to the source material.
Are there details you notice that you have questions about?
Is there a character interaction that intrigues you?
Is there something you feel the original creator didn't explain? (For me, I wanted to figure out how resource-intensive travel like flight is possible in Fallout.)
Outside of the original text, think about works by other people that inspire you to make your own work. What intrigues you about what they do? How does your fave author or director handle the moments in between the pivotal scenes?
What literature outside of fanfiction do you enjoy? (Some of my fave books are House of Leaves, Infinite Jest, Walden, Le Petit Prince, The Catcher in the Rye, The Road, Ulysses, Blood Meridian and The Lord of the Rings.)
Do you enjoy comedy? Do you have a particular sense of humour because your parents raised you on Laugh-In and Richard Pryor? How can you infuse your story with jokes?
What movies or TV shows had an impact on you as a kid? Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill is a love letter to the stories he was inspired by. In turn, Kill Bill inspired my own story. I'm also influenced by stories about courageous kids navigating a corrupt adult world as well as industrialization vs nature, such as in Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Akira, Princess Mononoke. A lot of what I like is hyperdetailed in some way, be it via dense themes, immaculate cinematography or intricate set design.
What music do you listen do? Are there musicians who explore themes that resonate with the story you're writing?
đ Study [Part 3] Storycraft: Learn about story structures and basic plot types to help you figure out how to build the overall story arc. Get to know your genre.
Note that you're not required to choose a story structure/plot type/genre. Approach to story delivery depends on cultural tradition, genre and the means with which the story is told. An awareness of them will help you understand how you can build your story.
A radio play, college graduation speech and a bedtime story are all part of the oral tradition. Despite being different stories intended for different audiences, all three could be told with a variety of story structures, or the same one. This chart from r/screenplay compares different approaches to story structure. There's even an entry for the Scientific Method.
If your story falls somewhere in the action/adventure genre, a story structure that might help is Joseph Campbell's monomyth; a three-act structure that watches a hero move from a known to unknown world and back again. Published in 1949, The Hero with a Thousand Faces posited that many heroic works can be boiled down to a similar story structure. You might know it as The Hero's Journey. A good movie for examining The Hero's Journey is Hercules (1997).
(The above image is from Bookfox. <- The linked page has similar graphics & explanations for other structures.)
After acquainting ourselves with the Ordinary World of Ancient Greece and Hades' meddling, Weirdo Freak Whom Do Be Too Strong Hercules visits the Temple of Zeus, who tells Herc he can earn his godhood- the Call Of Adventure. Hercules now wants to go the distance and find where he belongs. Zeus sends him to Meet The Mentor, Phil. After a training montage, Hercules and Phil go to Thebes and cross The First Threshold into the Unknown World. Herc wants something, encounters trials & a massive ordeal, then returns to the Known World a changed man.
Let's say one of your pivotal scenes is a huge fight between the Hero and the Big Bad. You could place that almost anywhere on the right side of the wheel. The Call to Adventure could be the first fight. The fights and conflict could get worse until a major fight happens at The Ordeal. Whatever you do, the audience needs to see the pivotal scene contextualized in some way. Whether you begin the story with a fight or are leading up to one, we want to see why it happened. You want to lay the groundwork and context for the pivotal events.
The pivotal events don't mean anything without context to support them, and the audience will not root for your characters if we don't see them struggle and/or aren't given reasons to care or get to know them.
Keep in mind it's not all about drama. Ideally, The Hero's Journey helps an author deliver layers of information that ranges from telling us about the characters' journey/everyday lives to showing the audience details that leads toward the central conflict. Maybe your characters are having a casual lunch and they see people running and screaming down the street. It's out of context in the moment, but it tells the audience, "Something's going on in this story that isn't right". Setup, payoff: the audience learns the reason why things aren't right when you contextualize them through supporting evidence.
These videos [1] [2] by Extra Credits explain the monomyth through an analysis of the video game Journey.
"But Tumblr User twosides--samecoin," you ask, "I'm not writing a heroic journey. What if I want to write a story about people just hanging out?"
đSidequest: Questions, themes, motivation & storycraft for a story about nothing
While your Hero doesn't need to slay monsters, some degree of conflict is necessary in most stories. Even the slicest of stories in the slice of life genre like Lucky Star have at least an episode or arc that has some problem to solve.
Seinfeld is known as being "a show about nothing", except that's not quite true. It's a slice of life comedy series that explores the misadventures of a friend group. Many episodes are predicated on telling a certain joke, gag, or are about seeing how the characters act in absurd situations. It's never about nothing. When the show was pitched to NBC, Seinfeld said: "We want to show how a comedian gets his material". The show is about mundane/everyday situations and turning people's worst tendencies into comedy gold.
Example: Seinfeld, season 5 episode 2: The Puffy Shirt
Who: is Jerry Seinfeld? Jerry is the titular character and a comedian. Also-ran are Elaine and George, as well as Kraemer and his new girlfriend, Leslie.
What: the fuck is that garment? The puffy shirt in question is considered a MacGuffin.
When/Where: Early/mid 90's NYC. Jerry's apartment, a photo studio, a restaurant, The Today Show.
Why: It's funny to see a grown-ass man act a fool about a bad fashion choice because of a miscommunication. He has to go on The Today Show and the host mocks the shirt, leading Jerry to snap about it, which then offends Leslie.
How: Jerry mishears Leslie, who has a very quiet speaking voice. In an effort to be polite, he accidentally agrees to wear the puffy shirt on The Today Show while pretending to understand her.
Themes: Miscommunication, humiliation, consequences arising from false politeness, awkward situations
Motivation: Jerry was motivated to be nice in an effort to accommodate Leslie's low talking volume in order to move the conversation along. He didn't realize he was agreeing to something he didn't want to do. This episode is not just about the humiliation Jerry suffers in the A plot- there are also B and C plots containing their own jokes that add to the tension of the episode, which all fall apart when Jerry snaps. Several plots and character arcs create pacing that feels like a boiling pot by the end of the episode: It's layers of mini jokes that support the main joke, which doesn't get a full punchline until the end. It's still one of the funniest 30 minutes of television ever produced, over three decades later.
Hope something in this ramble helps! Thanks for the ask, @publikoccurrences :)

Authenticity
In todays age it's easy to get fed trends stereotypes etc. and we adopt them thinking that they are beneficial to us
We distort ourselves cause it's what everyone is doing and are prone to idolise people and putting them on a pedestal
Looking up to people is not the problem but it gets to a point where it's literally concerning.
࣪ Ö´ÖśÖ¸ęŠ Girl at this point you are emulating them. Loosing your real beautiful self࣪ Ö´ÖśÖ¸ęŠ
Authenticity=Confidence
You can maxx out everything in confidence but if you are not authentic are you even confident? Or are you too insecure to show your real self.
Emulating someone does not make you that person. You will not get an ounce of the aura they have.
Inauthenticity is like people pleasing
Just like people pleasing we are letting others/society dictate who we are and diminish our uniqueness
You are feeding your energy to other people and you are in they're energy vortex
That's just wasting your energy -> makes you shine less
It's a silent killer tbh and kills your confidence
It's giving servant energy tbh.
Is this what you want??? Is this you???
Ways of inauthenticity
It's a spectrum
Not saying your opinions/pretending to like something
TO
straight up making a persona
Reasons: Fear of Judgement-> Insecurity-> Escapism-> Perfectionism - -> People pleasing and a lot more
We can put this definition into 3 examples
#1 -> You are someone with strong opinions, different mindset than others etc. You want to have a high social status. You feel like your real self is diminishing the chance to get one because it's soo 'different' from others -> "in a bad way"(your thoughts)
-> To gain my status I have to deform myself even if it just makes me insecure and gives me the opposite that I want INSECURITY
#2 -> You feel like your real self is not your highest self so you are trying to chase it in the internet by posting a 'stage self'. The more follower you gain the more dissatisfied are you with your real self.
-> My real self isn't good enough in reality and not even in the internet ESCAPISM
#3 -> You are in a slump, but you don't want to lose your face in front of other people. Even your closest friends and family. So you are keeping up a fake appearance to ignore your feelings and hoping that your problems will disappear
-> I don't want to burden anybody and feel indebted. I should help them with their problems not give them some. It just destroys my cultivated image PEOPLE PLEASING/PERFECTIONSIM
ââââŕ¨ŕ§ââââââââŕ¨ŕ§ââââââââŕ¨ŕ§ââââââââŕ¨ŕ§âHow to gain your authentic self back
Explore yourself Start by diving deep into who you are. Think about your values, strengths, and what really matters to you. Reflect on what you enjoy and what you donât in different areas of your life, like school, hobbies, and friendships.Â
You can keep a journal where you can track every new resolution; ramblings and things you find out about yourself.
Practice Self-acceptance
Accepting yourself and practicing self love can make you more comfortable in your real self. There are countless inspos out there.
Remember mistakes don't diminish your worth. You have to be willing to express who you are without worrying about what others think.
Stand by your beliefs and values, even when itâs tough.
Surround Yourself with Authentic People
Make sure youâre hanging out with friends who encourage you to be yourself. These relationships should feel safe, where you can share your true feelings without fear of judgment. Practice being honest with the people around you. Sharing your thoughts and feelings can strengthen your friendships and help you feel more authentic.
Create Daily Habits
Develop a daily routine that reflects who you really are. This might include mindfulness practices, setting boundaries, or doing activities that resonate with your values.
Reflect Before Decisions
Before making important choices, take a moment to reflect. Make sure those decisions align with your true self so that you can stay true to who you are.
Overcome People-Pleasing
People pleasing and being unauthentic are going hand in hand. They are literally soulmates.
People pleasing is a complex issue that has to be addressed from the root.
To make this post compact, I will not write my stance to people pleasing here because I already did an extensive post with everything you need to know about it

How to let go of what does not serve you? What does that exactly mean/entail? Like, overthinking, arguing, perfectionism, fears? I donât understand how to âlet goâ
Hey sweetie, so the thing is it's difficult to read the label when you're in the bottle so having people you trust that have wisdom and understand you is going to help you see situations better and also guide you. More often than not, we don't have those people in our lives. if that's the case, embarking on a self-growth journey is going to be your best bet. Reading books, listening to podcasts, journalling, meditating, doing exercise. These are all accessible to you. They sound simple but are very transformative. Going to the gym or for a 20 min jog for example is a great way to clear your mind and take a break from overthinking. Journalling daily writing down everything that is coming up is such a powerful tool for understanding yourself. So here's my advice for this week:
Commit to listening to one podcast episode on a long walk. Research podcasts in the area you are focusing on, maybe its fear in relationships, perfectionism and find a podcast that resonates with you.
Read the Secret by Rhonda Bryne, this will help alot with a positive perspective on the world. If you've read it before, read it again. There are free copies swirling on the internet.
Commit to doing exercise once this coming week if you don't have a practise already. This is one jog - even if its down the road and back, or one yoga class.
Meditate once. Go find something that resonates on youtube, a guided meditation. Or sit in silence for 5 mins using a clock or the timer on your phone.
Journal once this week writing minimum 3 pages.
These are simple introductions to inviting self-development and self-care into your weekly routine. Once you start doing the above, I promise there will be shifts, but start small. Just one of each of the above within one week. You will start to notice a difference, I hope this helps. xo
